Hello guys! I am excited to share our experience of going on a trip with my lovely wife to the famous Seoul landmark – The Namsan Tower (or Namdaemun Tower in Korean). Let’s embark together and explore this wonderful place.
We started early because it gets crowded during peak hours. Most tourists visit the tower around midday on weekends. They come for a breathtaking view of Seoul from above. My wife wore casual yet fashionable clothes. I chose comfy clothes and sneakers. We planned to explore both indoor and outdoor areas near Namsan Tower. Namsan Tower is on top of the scenic Namsan Park.
Our first stop was Namdaemun Gate at Dongdaemun Market. Local artists performed early in the morning. It felt like stepping back into Korean history. Traditional music and dance surrounded us. These performances depicted Korea’s rich culture from ancient times. The costumes looked colorful and funky yet authentic. I was mesmerized. My wife laughed while watching the performers.
We left Dongdaemun Market, known for its vibrant atmosphere and tasty Korean delights like hotteok (sweet pancake). We proceeded towards Namsan Tower, situated on top of Namsan, an extinct volcano. The fresh morning air greeted us as soon as the cable car dropped us off near the tower’s entrance. The quick 20-minute ride from Dongdaemun Market cost around $5 for both adults. This price did not include drinks and snacks we bought along the way.
Once we reached the top of Namsan Tower, the view was magical. The tower, with its panoramic glass windows, overlooks the city skyline of Seoul. My wife jumped in excitement as soon as she saw the place. She said everyone loves to watch the sunrise from here. I completely agreed and added that watching the sunset would also be amazing. Visiting Namsan Tower at night would offer a different experience. However, our trip was planned for the morning, so we could enjoy both views.
As soon as we went inside, there were so many things happening. We watched street artists painting live on canvas right in front of us. Small shows by local bands played traditional Korean music. People walked along, enjoying their time together. We felt welcomed into a sense of community. Everyone seemed friendly enough to talk to strangers. We shared laughs over common interests and sipped on our hot chocolate, which cost around $5 for two, including taxes and tip at the café near Namsan Tower.
Then, we moved away from this lively atmosphere towards a quieter spot nearby. We decided to sit down with some locals who joined us. They shared stories of their own experiences in Seoul. We enjoyed our Korean delicacies like kimchi pancakes and cheese paninis. My wife particularly loved these foods. She said how the combination of spicy flavors from kimchi mixed well with the sweet, fluffy layers. This was a delightful surprise to her taste buds.
We spent about an hour enjoying ourselves and getting lost in conversations until time flew by unknowingly! Before we knew it, the sun started setting behind Namsan Mountain. We realized that our day at this spectacular attraction would soon end. My wife loves this part of every trip. Watching her excitement and happiness always warms my heart. It was time for us to leave Namsan Tower. We left with amazing memories created during this day together.
On our way to the mountain on a cable car ride, it cost around $7.50 each, including taxes and tip. We had taken an hour-long break at one of Seoul’s popular street food stalls. There, we had our last meal before going home. My wife reminded me how important it is to always follow safety rules while exploring places like Namsan Tower. She said that even though this attraction is loved by tourists and locals, we should take precautions seriously during peak hours. I wholeheartedly agreed with her advice.
Finally, our day at the iconic Namsan Tower in Seoul was truly memorable. At last, we explored its unique features and embraced Korea’s rich culture. We viewed the sunrise and watched live street performances. We indulged in delicious local food while making new friends. All of this made the trip wonderful for us both! I hope you enjoyed reading about my adventure with my lovely wife. I hope you also learned something useful from her suggestions too!
