My Magical Journey to Bacalar Lagoon, Mexico

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bacalar Lagoon, a stunning natural wonder located in the southern part of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Getting to Bacalar is relatively easy. We flew into Cancun International Airport and then took a private transfer to Bacalar, which took around 4 hours. The drive was comfortable, and we had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.

We stayed at the beautiful Casa Bakal, a cozy boutique hotel located right on the lagoon. The hotel offered stunning views of the water, and we could even see the sunrise from our balcony.

Also, we took in the stunning scenery and were marveled at the different shades of blue. We also visited the famous ‘Cenote de la Bruja.’ This is a natural sinkhole located in the lagoon. We swam and snorkeled in the crystal-clear waters.

There is another must-visit spot in Bacalar. This is the Fuerte de San Felipe. Authorities built the fort in the 18th century to protect the town from pirates.
