My wife and I have always enjoyed nature, adventure, and exploring new places together. That’s why we chose to visit beautiful Canmore in Alberta, Canada. When our plane landed at Calgary International Airport on June 5th this year, we knew it would be an unforgettable experience for us both!
Canmore holds a special place in my heart, not only attracting tourists but also captivating with its natural surroundings that showcase Alberta’s grandeur. Our journey began as we took public transportation from Calgary to Canmore, which was an experience itself!
When our taxi dropped us at Banff National Park’s entrance, I was thrilled like a kid in a candy store. We began hiking Bow Falls and strolling through Canmore Golf & Country Club. Then, we explored the town on foot, enjoying local food tastings!
My wife, skilled at discovering hidden gems in new cities, led us to a family-owned bakery. We tried warm cinnamon rolls with homemade maple syrup—truly the best I’ve ever had, crispy and delicious. Our culinary journey continued at The Canmore Brewing Company, where we enjoyed their signature craft beers, reflecting on what an amazing trip it had been so far.
After a day of exploring, my wife suggested cozy accommodation in town. We booked The Canmore Lodge & Spa at a great price! It had everything—hot tubs with mountain views, a heated outdoor pool for relaxation, and enticing massages and beauty treatments we couldn’t resist.
My wife loves photography, so she took pictures of the stunning landscapes here. Mountains towered above us like majestic guards of this paradise. Streams wound through valleys and forests that stretched as far as we could see. We even took a hot air balloon ride early in the morning on June 8th – it was magical!
The next day, we decided to extend our exploration of Canmore’s natural wonders. We strolled through Bearspits Falls Park, immersing ourselves in the tranquil surroundings, and embarked on scenic hikes along the trails. As evening approached, hunger led us to The Greenhouse Cafe, a charming local eatery renowned for its farm-to-table cuisine. Run by a passionate couple, the cafe served us mouthwatering roasted beet salads and perfectly cooked lamb chops, leaving us thoroughly satisfied.
The following day, we crafted a more ambitious itinerary. Our adventure led us into Banff National Park, where we hiked through stunning landscapes that looked like paintings. To change things up, we had fun as a family at Canyon Meadows Waterpark, sliding down water slides and floating along lazy rivers. Returning to Canmore, we reunited with friends over shared tales and laughter, savoring the camaraderie of our journey.
Before bidding farewell to Alberta after an unforgettable two-week odyssey, we opted for one last night in Canmore. Nestled at The Creekside Hotel, we were treated to sweeping views of downtown and the serene Lake Minnewanka. The cozy bedrooms with crackling fireplaces provided the perfect blend of comfort and charm, capping off our adventure with warmth and tranquility.
Canmore, with its blend of adventure, culture, relaxation, and natural splendor, proved to be an unparalleled destination. It’s easy to understand why this picturesque mountain town captures hearts and tops bucket lists worldwide.
